Picking out a good NC saltwater flyrod...

Well here is the deal...I want to buy another fly rod for fishing the back waters and maybe a few spanish out front. I really want a St. Croix and I was thinking about a Legend Ultra 9wt. 9'. Does anyone have any suggestions about the rod type, modle, length, or weight?? Im new to fly fishing in the salt water, any suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks

probably a 8-9 for the light stuff or 9-10 if you are throwing a little heavy stuff. 9 1/2'...... i am making a 11-12 now for the heavy stuff i havent actually scaled the rod, but its a bear..we spent a few hours a while ago cutting up alot of blanks to make some saltwater fly blanks for us..2 -3 -4 pc blanks. its pretty neat to be able to make your own fly rod sections..

    I have a TFO 9' TiCR 4pc. 9 wt.

I recommend a 9wt for what you're talking about. More backbone and casting ability than an 8wt and not as heavy as a 10wt. I have a #10 Teton Tioga reel on mine. I am yet to really challege the rod and reel, but have been happy with their performance. The price was definitely right.
