Pensacola Fishing Report with Capt Brant Peacher

Ive been reading this forum for quite some time so I thought I would join and share some of my reports. Names Brant Peacher and I am a full time guide in beautiful Pensacola Fl.

Usually by now the redfish bite is pretty strong in the upper bay systems in Pensacola. Lot's of rainfall and hot weather has pushed the bite back a month or so.

On this particular morning, I got the pleasure of guideing Bryson Bratcher, a very ambitious angler who is eager to learn the ins and outs of shallow water redfishing. I told Bryson before the trip that it might be hard to find fish with the lack of salinity in the upper bays. Bryson didn't care..."I want to learn strategy" he said. So off we go...into the backcountry.

I have spent very little time in the Blackwater and Escambia marsh this year but with over 200 hrs spent in past years in those places I had a pretty good idea where to look. Bryson and I looked around for 2 hours before getting into a nice shcool of about 50 fish. We pulled 6 off the school and 5 off another. I thought it was a success seeing how most of my time this year has been spent in the ICW.

Since Bryson want's to become a tournament redfisherman like myslef, I spent most of the time going over tides, rigging, what to look for, tournament strategy, pre fishing strategy, and everything else I know that will help him in getting started.

    thanks
    Capt Brant

Capt Brant, Welcome to SFC. Looking forward to reading more of your reports and seeing more of your pictures. One of your pictures looks very much like a place that I fish here and did today. Make your self at home...

Im not fishing the championship this year. I didn't fish my 3 tournaments. I am only fishing one which is in Orange Beach next month. If you decide not to run to LA let me know. Ill show you around Pensacola/Destin area. Lot's of quality fish here that time of year.
