My first post ( I think ) here in the "Shallow Water" of SF.com! =D
October brought us great times for inshore & surf Redfishing around Destin, even though we fought through rain downpours, wind in our faces, currents, high water levels, getting soaked to the bone from rain and waves, shivering cold nights, slipping on rocks to be bruised for days at a time, losing tackle, missed fish, breaking rods from anger & frustration, getting whipped in the face by a rod tip at night, dealt with rude-a$$ young "locals", losing the drag on my Outcast special cheapo Jarvis Walker and fighting a Bull with my hand .... but it has all been & continues to be in GREAT FUN!
We have pretty much fished every possible free morning, evening, and night since the first of October. The Reds have all been Over the Slot size & they continue to like both dead and live baits (pinfish, pigfish, mullet, alewives) on Carolina rigs. Specific tide times haven't appeared to matter.
Flounder have also been a hot item inshore this week using Gulp shrimp and jerk shad, on jig heads and carolina rigs brought in slowly.
A Few Pics:
Castnetting bait as the sun sets:
One Bull Red had over 30 spots total on its 2 sides!
