The bite was on bigtime between Oct-Dec in the surf here in Beaufort.
I've found you have to get there at low tide and read the beach. Flat beach= poor fishing.
Fresh scaled cut mullet filets are the best. Fish the troughs as the tide rises. I catch a lot of spot tails in 1 ft. of water. They get in a hurry to move up. Try mole crabs as well.
Where you find depressions of exposed mud use shrimp/fiddlers for Black Drum. In the smaller end of the keeper slot these fish are very fine eating.
Lots of luck with blue crab chunks with the legs cut off for both.
Both are caught within 25-50 ft of the waterline in water 1-5 ft.
If I can get a day when the wind is down, tides about 2/3 flow about an hour before sundown or for a couple hours after sunrise..... man!
