Lee's post about the Johnson spoon brings back memories. Years ago running shallow water charters my main go to items in the boat consisted of two items. One was a box full of 1/4 oz and 1/8 oz Gold Johnson spoons. We would "tip em" with the bitten off tail of a chartruese curly tail grub. When the water got deeper than a couple of feet we would switch up to a purple 1/4 oz Hank Brown Hook up jig and a gold curly tail grub. Awful color combination but something about the purple and gold combo really lit them up! Using these two baits depending on water depth was all we would use to prospect for fish if they weren't showing. If the water got over a couple of feet or more it was hard to get folks to let the spoon sink deep enough as well as fish it slow enough to keep it on the bottom. Also the gold spoon worked well for us throwing it in the flooded grass chasing tailers. As always Lee shares great post and ideas that gets our blood going! Thanks for sharing
Lee does the Johnson Spoon spin like the others? Does the welded ends keep the lure from spinning? I've heard of these lures and that they work well but never tried them.
