Had nothing to do today, and Mike called wondering where my boat was.
Boat was in the driveway full of grass, decoys, and other crap. Cleaned it out a little and headed down the road.
Strung up a 7wt. w/ a teeny 250 on the way out of the harbor and ran to our spot. Along the first bank a White perch fell for my red, orange, yellow w/ copper flash and UV krystal flash clouser....maybe a 1/0.
It was a little fella, but good to feel the pull on the line again.
After hooking a few docks and lines and a sailboat, we headed to another spot and I hooked into a personal best pickerel. Forgot to measure him, but would estimate 20"+. He did a nice little tail walk and was released without harm to fight another day.
Mike brought a white perch in after the first move, and I finished our day with a nice little yellow perch.
The clouds were moving in and it was supposed to rain so we headed for home.
A lack of tide movement lead to a slower day, but any day w/ three species in January is a good day in my book.
Start sending me weather windows as you see them and I'll try even harder to make it. Even with the warm crappy duck hunting weather it usually gets the nod for off days right now. It's sad but true.
Yep it's wet and nasty here today too. Wish it was snow instead.
This little girl obviously knew there were way to many witnesses around or she wouldn't have gotten this close. Good to snap some pics though I need some mallard reference for carving.
Yep I try to carve decoys. Just getting back into it and taking it pretty seriously this time. Cork gunning birds and maybe a few wood ones this year. We'll see.
