    New Yak

I've been wanting a Hobie Outfitter for quite a while, and at last I own one!! Looks like I'm going to have to learn to cast the long rod from a sitting position!

Haven't gotten it on the water yet, but we will soon. Until then I'm rigging it out for fishing. Stuck on which Fishfinder to put in it. Don't want to spend a fortune on the elctronics, doesn't seem like a wise idea to me to spend big bucks on something for a yak, but we do want one with GPS. Wife has found some made by Eagle and Humminbird that she likes and have alarm features that I can tell what is going on by the sounds. My question is, does any one have any comments on these brands, or another that I check out??

Get a hold of Captain Daley, he just rigged his yak to the teeth and is working on a second.

Yeah, I'm a little on the exvited side! The tandemn will give me the chance to spend some "quality time" with the wife AND fish at the same time! She's looing forward to getting time together, and using the electronics to help put me on fish. (She'd rather do that than catch fish herself.) How cool is that??? LOL Rigging it out will take some time as we figure out the things that work best for "the blind guy", which is also a fun challenge. I'll keep you posted as the work progresses, and I'll have the wife take pics as we go.

With a yak, you will need to check out my neighborhood. Can give you some hints for Back River. Good dock at Messick, or I can show you another good place to launch. Let me know.

Thanks fishsalmon, I will be in touch with you. Back River is one of the places I am loooking forward to fishing. I need to get the yak out a couple times just to get the feel for it first. (Which means I need to convince the wife to take a little time away from work. LOL) Not to mention the fact that we need to get into shape, been too long since we yakked.

Good luck with the yak. Tandeem might work with the hobie as you can peddle with just one and move very good. I have a paddle tandeem and I would use it more often if I had two singles. Had the same idea of using it together. Found my wife liked to go out during non prime times for fishing and if we were just going to be sitting around in it fishing and not paddling for the exercise she would rather sit in the boat and be more comfortable.

Best of luck, It will be neat to see your new rig and how you do with it. That peddle power is the way to go and I am sure you will love it.

LOL Yeah, I'm planning on rigging it out with the better fishfinder so the wife has something to watch... Seems sightseeing is more her style! LOL She has a paddle stype bot of her own, and we are making plans for her to be able to let me anchor up and fish while she goes off to do her thing... Makes me a little nervouse, but we're working on radio contact and other safety things. So tough, I'm so hot on getting back on the water, but afraid of the other fools out there. If I had had this thing back when I lived up there in "the old days", you would have to put another mark on the charts just off the convent of the Point!! But, I digress, I have parked my ass in the yak in the yard and tried casting the long rod... Caught me a tree so far. Can't wait until I get near water! (Oh Lee, you're not off the hook, I'll be asking casting questions from the sitting positon, the tree was not in sight!! LOL)
