So I emailed my uncle last Monday to ask about a renzetti fly vice his brother had. His brother killed himself last year after becoming addicted to antidepressants. He emailed me back and said to come to his house this past saturday. So I get there around lunch and my uncle said that if we wanted to be done by dinner then we better get started. After about three hours of sorting through fly gear his brother's tying bench, movies, books, and random stuff not only did I have the vice but more materials than I could have ever purchased while in college, some saltwater tying books, and some movies. We got to talking about rods and my uncle walked over to a closet and pulled out a brand new sage rod in a metal tube and handed it to me. I was thinking of something to say when he handed me a box with a tioga everglades reel and extra spools, with his brother's name engraved on it. I was just short of tears. I had known Andre ever since I was little. His daughter is ten days older than I am and he always treated me like the son he never had. And now having the things that I know were his best memories, I have the opportunity to carry on his passion. He was the one who got me involved in fly fishing and now he will be there on every trip I take.
i have inherited seversl outdoor related things from my late uncle. i think that when my time comes he will be one of those that brings me through , at least if i am going to the good place. he died before i got a chnace to talk to him about something that i wont know till i meet him again.

driftwoodcowboy1, Wow, sorry for you loss. This is a very touching story and I feel like I knew him now. Remember to try to take his daughter with you when you can...may mean more to her than you know.
