    Replacement hooks......

i have been thru just about every one in the tackle shop as i change out hooks pretty often...sometimes after each trip on a hot plug. lots of times when looking trout, i stumble onto schools of drum. i try to keep away from them to find the trout but that is unavoidable lots of times so i end up mashing my barbs down to facilitate quick and easy release of the stupid drum so i can catch a trout.

i have settled on the Daiichi Bleeding Red D97 4X treble....#4 size for 52M, TT, and Catch 2000 plugs. Top Dogs get a #2.

i dont think the red color makes a bit of difference. the finish tends to flake off lots if times any way, especially after you have taken the pliers to them to get a hook out.

I'm glad that someone spoke on behalf of the 808. It's invaluable. Great thread. We catch a lot of bass all season in NJ on the Catch 2000.

I love these lures! I usem for the Trout and Reds in the inlets and in and around the jetties. I find I have better luck with them with the trout. Whats your fav one with the Reds? None of mine are rattle. Does this feature really suckem in and whats your fav in this catagory?
    I like everyones feedback!

Although there are a zillion reds here locally I have never once caught one on a mirror-lure. rockfish, yes- lizardfish yes, flounder-yes- pups- nada.- My personal preferences and they are not many but I use TT series and 52M's mostly. Red/white, green/white, yellow/white and pink. Since Lee was so nice and put all this good info up I will release one of my secrets , it may or may not work where you fish but it certainly does here. The total pink ones are my favorite- and i catch 10-1 fish on this over any other color. But to make it more attractive put one on the dash of your truck (or 2 or 3) for a while until it turns the pink to a nice shade of orange. there are no specs around if this color does not produce. I will put a pic of one up later if y'all like.

VA my Va. boyz are aweful quiet, lol

TK 4 hire- here you go, your welcome, i wasnt going to ask again and i know my lynnhaven boyz gotta be lurking!!!!- pulled these out of my "need new hooks" box but you can get the idea. I like to keep one cooking, but seems like i lose 2 or 3 pinks a year so i end up going to the windshield more than i would like. Try it out and let us know how you faired. (Im also showing off my new calcutta 100B for sizing. sweet reel ! And thanx Lee for the knot lesson again- I have already been using both of them although the flouro to power pro I still have what I "think" are tightening problems (it doesnt look real uniform when I pull tight. then again my eyes are not very good even with glasses so i cannot see the finished knot very well. Seems strong though and goes through my guides well. Hey Al B, you looking?

Yeah man... I'm looking! I also tried the loop knot this past week. Strong knot and good action on the lure. Had to practice a couple times to get it "small".

Craig - Fished w/Dennis last Friday and caught one that was a 1/2 inch shy of a release... going back this afternoon. Send me your cell number... happy hour turned into happy night and I lost my phone in DC last weekend at the skins game.
