We're still struggling with this one, but we're getting better at it.
We went out for a few hours this morning just to check out a few area. The bait du jour was white Gulp shrimp (3") with white jig heads, just cast and retrieved slowly with an occasional jig.
Captain Stephen had one flounder early on, but it came off at the surface. After that he caught a little black drum. I had nothing at our first spot.
Tried a second spot with no takers. Also tried using Gulp under a popping cork. Lots of hits, but probably from undersized fish. Nothing connected.
Found what looked like a good food chain area elsewhere and started fishing there. Then it was on. Caught two decent flounder and a little one in a matter of minutes.
Still can't seem to find any reds. We'll keep trying.
