Spotted three. One lipped my pogy of the hook, never got good shots at the others.
Did come across this menhaden ball. The chopper blues were popping donuts wholes through it pretty good.

That's a ball of bait alright! Were you out in the morning captain Mike? Seems like it blew up in the PM?
Thanks for the report and very cool pictures.

These are from Thurs am.
I was on the inside this am. TONS of 8-10" blues have settled in. Besides being the only size I prefer to eat they certainly do make for some fine grouper candy. Especially the big'uns.![]()
Sweet Mike, gotta to get out there and look for them...![]()
pretty cool photos, was in hatteras last week and the thread fin were coming by in school that big, would have been nice to have an underwater camera
I'm heading out of WB tomorrow to look for a cobia or 2. Anybody else gonna be out there??? I'll be in the shamrock with a white tower. What channel on the VHF do most of you WB boys use?
Report for yesterdays cobia outing. Saw one decent cobia yesterday hanging behind a small ball of pogeys. He must have been full b/c he wouldn't eat anything we threw at him. Also saw a few scattered rays heading south. Got a ton of bait swimming around out there though. We ended up heading out to 23 mile reef and the water was kinda green still but there was a nice weedline. We picked up a nice gaffer dolphin pretty quick and then nothing else happened for 2 hours. Well after 2 hours of trolling with no results we headed back in to try for cobia again but didn't see anything. Thats about it!!! Im gonna try again this weekend.
Later guys,
Dave
