Looking for a good shrimp pattern for specks

If anyone has a good shrimp pattern that might work for specks I would love to try and tie some. Word is that they feed on grass shrimp in this area in the spring and early summer so I thought it would be good to give this a try. Any help would be greatly appreciated. My goal is to try a couple of different patterns.

Dang that fly looks dead on. Can't wait to see the finished product. Fishsalmon you should drive by the house and look at the boat. I also have a foam question for you.

These are both good imitations. Estaz in pearl or clear is a good material to mess around with for grass shrimp imitations.

Thank you for the inputs. I have tied the pattern that Driftwood sent in both a white and a tan. And the steps for the second pattern Paul sent looking promising. keep'em coming because i will try all and any to find which works best.

Fishsalmon, try the one that I put in the swap. I use it on long island for weakfish (in addition to being a great fly for striper and fluke). Its deadly in the spring time when we have millions of grass shrimp around and is really easy to tie (for the toothy critters). I might be mistaken but I think that the specks you are talking about ar the same as the weakfish that I talk about (they look like a rainbow trout...right? Good luck and check out these sites for some ideas too...

Thanks for the new ideas. Specks are speckled or spotted sea trout different than weakfish or gray trout - but these are good patterns and i especially like the foam back one. Will try that this weekend. Look forward to seeing your fly. Have you ever tied a shrimp in bend back or weedless?

A croaker family relitave I belive. Seems from the talk that they have a very similar diet.

I have seen the foam shrimp done (its not too difficult at all) but I dont know of anyone personally who has scored with it. Looks like it should work though...

I myself have not done weedless nor bend back. Weedless wouldf be a waste of time for the areas that I am accustomed to fishing because when there are weeds...thats all you get and when there arent any, you dont ever worry. As for the ebd back, I think that you can adjust it for a few of those recipes that I sent and still get the good movement that you want.
