    legend surf rod

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Could I get some feed back on these rods please? I'm talking the two 10'6" models....3/4-4 oz plugging and the 2-6 oz jigging rod. Are they worth the money? Is the plugging rod a 100 yard rod with 30 braid and the right plug? Because they have low rider guides do I have to use a smaller reel with a smaller diameter spool? and if so, wouldn't that cut down my distance? so are these rods a catch 22 when it comes to reaching 100 yards with a plug? All casting is snap(thump) casting.......thanks in advance for any help

    Robc22,
First off, welcome to the site. I looked at your information and would put forth the following:
The LEgend blank is an SC IV modulus blank that is thin walled and has great backbone while having a sensitive tip. The lowrider guides are going to see better performance with newer small diameter reels than they will with older and larger spooled reels.
While the blanks are OK, there are better blanks out there that will perform better in my opinion. I would suggest looking at the CTS surf blanks. Their weight is even lighter than the Legend blanks while the casting performance is better. I have built many of the CTS rods and casting up to and beyond 100yds is not a problem. The blanks are from the land down under and a good number of professional long distance casters turn to CTS for their blank needs.

All of that said, with a custom legend, you will see better results because if you put larger guides on the blank, you will see better performance. Sizing the guides to the reel is always the #1 priority.
