Lake Ponchartrain report

[Catcher's Mitt]

The bonnie Carrie spillway has been open for a few weeks. most of the lake is muddy, at least on the surface. A couple of buddies and I went Sunday and managed to find some good looking water on the north side. We started fishing about 30 minutes after daybreak. we were carolina rig fishing live shrimp and plastics. we caught a lot of trout but lots of throw backs. Probably threw back more than we kept. Ended up with 25 trout and 4 big sheephead.

Trey's son Rolan came with us and had a great time reeling some in and getting the shrimp out of the baitwell. he was trooper. I had to get this coool breeze shot of him.

we caught 4 of these big guys. they sure can fight!

I'm jealous there has not been that many specs caught in our area this time of year and the spades have not really shown up here yet.
