Today budwiller ask what knots I use for braid to mono. I am answering his question in another thread as I feel more people will see it and get more use out of it...
I use 2 knots that are easy to tie and hold very well with braid to mono. As Jesse said, uni-knot...and the other is a Surgeon's knot, as I said...KISS..."Keep It Simple Son"...
Before we start, let me say, DO NOT be stingy with you lines to make any knot. Trying to tie a knot, till you master it with minimal line is useless. Give your self "room to work" so to speak..
Uni-knot to uni-knot
Start with your running line (braid...white in the picture) and the mono (purple in the picture) parallel to each other.
Make a loop with the braid line, holding it parallel to the mono and go around the mono 4 times and lightly snug down onto the mono line...
it should look something like this...
Now do the same with the mono, once...
Twice...
4 times...
Snug down on to braid, moisten both knots and slide together pulling on both main lines and tag ends...when knots snug together, release the tags and pull tight on the main lines...
Trim tag ends close and your done...
Surgeon's knot...
Start with both braid and mono parallel to each other...
Make a loop with both lines...
Come through the loop with both lines 3 times...once...
twice...
After the third time, lightly moisten the knot and slowly pull on the main lines and the tags at the same time, watch to see that it starts to form a figure 8...
Snug down lightly and release the tag ends and pull tightly on the main lines to finish the knot, trim the tag ends closely...
