    Kayak at the Canyon?

Anyone hear about a guy fishing from a yak at the Baltimore? Somebody was telling me that it happened but I wanted to get the whole story and my bud didn't have much info.

    hey bry,

people do it all the time.. bring them out on the sportfishes and launch them out there.. they throw artificials at big pobs of bait and fish and also sometimes they slow troll and work around the pots..

to me it has no real value or anything of the sort.. i find it rather amusing and i have seen it in the toms and in the spencer canyons but i can not find anything that you can do in a yak that you can not do in a mid sized sportfish.. i know that off the beach you can save a lot of time and a lot of fuel getting in one and i have seena lot of guys hooking up with huge arse bass from their yaks off the surf..

but i just like i said dont see anything good about it offshore.. other than the trill of hooking up and being dragged around!!

hell I love working the back of Island Beach with one, but yeah I just don't see the point offshore where you have easy access. Not to mention the idea of being paddle powered at 100 miles off, some might find it thrilling but I'd probably bug out...

Yeah I don't know how thrilled I would be if a 400 pound tiger shark showed up next to my kayak while fishing in a pod of bait. But I can definitely see it being fun when you're hooked up to a nice fish.

the only 2 times i observed this , the guy was using fly equipment, and was doing quite well. sure seemed like alot of fun having the boat towed my a nice bull mahi. but again to each his own. how about the 60 ft er that drops its tender and the 60 ft er anchors and chunks and the dinghy trolls around the fleet i believe this was at the 19 fath lump or masseys canyon.
