We came across a large school of False Albies & large Houndfish busting bait south of MBI ........
I tried 8 different jigs, different colors, different sizes, different retrieves & could not get them to bite. Had one short hooks up with a Deadly Dick in silver.
My buddy did hook one large Houndfish or as he refers to them as "Inshore Billfish" or "Marsh Marlin" on some Yozuri soft plastic coated jig, but that was it.
3 boats with very few hook ups, but had a great time trying ........... ICM
Bust out the Fly Rod if you have one. They were probably feeding on Glass minnows or some kind of fish Frye.
If no fly rod, get a couple Clouser Minnow Patterns and a large popping Cork. Tie on the fly, then place the cork about two feet above it for weight and casting distance. Cast into the middle of the "Feeding Frenzy", then, hold on.
