Funny you should ask as someone ask almost the same question in this thread so I ask someone in the know today and to answer your question...no.
Spots are a random thing in farm and salt water fish both. We see the 1 spotters all the time and a couple of times a year, we get them with no spots.
There are no released Red Drum here (NC) that they were aware of. Their is a good spawning population through the state and no need here for hatchery fish.
Way to get the Season started this way Mike and Lee... A lot more than just luck on this one! Congratulations...

Iv noticed a pretty solid pattern with number of spots and salinity over the years with smaller fish. Its not likely they are too far from where they hatched at that size and the fresher the water the more multi spotters I catch. Once they get bigger they roam all over the place a lot of times. May be coincidence too, I aint a scientist.
NICE WORK GUYS! So proud of you! When I grow up, I aspire to be as good of fisherman as you two! So, how long where those 2 redfish anyway? weight? Girth?Where they 2 perfect 27 inch fish?
Anyway, sure does make me happy to be on the Riley rod squad! I am a proud user of my riley rods.![]()
Looks like Lee and Mike have a good thing going here on Team Riley Rod.....makes me think I need to place an order to help out with sponsorship!!!!
