Glenn W is right about fatigue while using the foot pedal. Some bass boats have a recessed pedal mount, so it's more or less even with the deck. But you have a flats boat, not a bass boat.
Another thing to consider with the foot pedal is that the hard plastic on the pedal may slide around the deck if you don't permanently mount it to the deck. They come with holes so you can screw it into the deck. I wouldn't want to do that to a brand new boat like that, but I guess it depends on what you'll use it for, etc.
I have a bass boat with a foot control and find myself wishing it was a hand control. Standing all **** eyed 8 hours a day for 10 straight days now (since summer started) is really getting to my back. But that's just me. Try both on different boats and see what you like.
Alex That's a great boat. I run a Hewes Redfisher 18 and use a MotorGuide wireless saltwater edition. I run the 24 volt setup and the 60" shaft. It has 75 lbs. thrust. I went this way because I am a guide and wanted to still be on the polling platform so I can see better. The wireless is very nice and you might want to consider it. There are a few other advantages as well. When I release a fish I can still controll the boat with a touch of the wireless remote for one. I went with MG or MK because the wireless system was better in the MG and the unit was digital. At the time MK was not there yet. MG uses a stronger, better built motor. MK uses light weight motors and flexable blades to help it out at startup. If you are a MK fan you can slam MG. The point is do your research. What ever you purchase, plan on changing the prop. Go to a 4 blade and you will have a very quiet setup. Most of the noise comes from the prop moving the water. You hear the motor noise coming up the shaft. A MG will handle a 4 blade prop better. I had a MK hand control and liked it. I have noticed that the MK 24 volt system is much better and lasts me a couple of days.
