    Hi everyone.........

Hi, just a few questions....I mainly fish in Sheepshead Bay in Brooklyn, or Manhattan Beach or the Steeplechase Pier in Coney Island in Brooklyn. I never bring my catch home to eat since the waters there are not the cleanest. Can anyone suggest other areas of Brooklyn, that can be accessed by mass transit since I do not have a car, where I can feel ok about eating my catch. Thanks,
    tight lines to you
    Susan

I can see it's dangerous for you, but if the government trusts me, maybe you could. Agitated88's Avatar

    Hi Susan,

Keep in mind that the fish you are catching have fins..... the blues and the bass are just coming in for a bite to eat and don't usually stay in one spot too long.

The water around there is cleaner then it has been for years. I know people that eat fish from that area a few times a week with no ill effects.

If you would like to fish the ocean from the beach, which this time of the year can be very productive, take the A train to the Rockaways. You can fish the ocean side or the sea wall over by the marine park bridge.

Just try not to catch any of the Coney Island White Fish....

    Hi giantfan.........

LOL I am one block from Manhattan Beach, why would I go all the way to the Rockaways to fish? Also, what's a Coney Island white fish???? I love white fish but the kind I get from the deli, lol.

Not really sure why you would go all the way to the Rockaways.... but you asked. Ok, granted it's not Brooklyn... it's Queens, but it has mass transit and you can't get any cleaner then the ocean in this area.
