Hey Ray....Rockfish question
I was down hunting in MD's coastal bays on tuesday and noticed the water is 49.7 degrees.
What is the coldest you've caught fish in?
I might just have to take sunday to do some fishing if it's warm.

We catch em down to 43-44 degrees around here.

Last March we caught them in 39.8 degree water. There was bait there and thats why the rocks were there. Limit in 30 minutes then continued to play catch n release on light tackle for the next 2 hours. Not the norm though

I think Admin is going to let me have this space
Around 45 degrees and above. We are getting them in that range now. When it gets colder than that you have to strip slower. When it gets that cold I have never really been out there chasing them around. Never keep my boat in the slip this long.
I am going to pull it on Sunday and probably try a few spots from land in January. In the spring the fish do not get too active untill it is around 50 degrees. Believe the bottom water is warmer this time of year as we read the surface temps. Come spring the water is cold both high and low.
Hope you get a chance to nail a few more.
