Help on mounting a 14 1/2 foot kayak on a pickup

I'm thinking of the half rack with T-bar in the back like:

Anyone have thoughts on this? I'm planning on getting a kayak this spring (live in North Dakota) to do some lake fishing but I obviously can't have 8 foot of kayak hanging out of my truck box

Well after 2 1/2 months of thinking about Kayaks I had a business trip to San Antonio which led my to austin kayaks and canoes as they are a Malibu dealer and I really wanted to check them out.

I ended up buying and had my kayak shipped back to ND (just 49.00 freight which still amazes me). Checked out and really like the layout and options on the Stealth 14 so got my 'yak, paddle, extend a truck to mount it on and I'm ready for the ice to melt here eventually

The console and electronics and livewell add on will have to be later but I have a few more months yet.

How does the extend-a-truck work? I've been thinking about something for my truck. A ladder rack was my first idea.

    Here's the Extend a truck:

Here's also a "dry run" of my kayak -- we still have 3 feet of ice on the lakes so unfortunately it won't be going anywhere soon.
