    Help with Fish Identification

I was wondering if someone could help me identify the following fish? They were caught late tonight off the VA Beach fishing pier with squid pieces put on the bottom. Thanks. I'm sorry the pics are not of better quality.

    Fisherman,
We in South Africa have a fish similar to that and it's called a Cob or commonly by the fishermen Salmon. If it has rather large K9's we call it a Snapper Salmon.Dose not get big about 3kg max. But the Cob the cob species has a couple of variation that grow to about 75kg( SA record)

But I think you guy's in the US have a other name for it. Maybe try your closest Marine aquarium guy’s.

Whiting, VA mullet, kingfish...those are a few things they are called. Squid on the bottom is a fairly common way to get them.

    Pretty good eats.

    Fish ID

Fish on the right is a Northern Kingfish. Left is a Whiting. You can google them and get all the facts. Nice catch. We used to catch an occasional King when fishing in Great South Bay, LI when I was a kid.
