Would not classify myself as as "pro", but the guys I surf fish are legends ( in their own minds ).

Most of us have switched to 9' Steelhead rods for throwing MirrOlures in the surf.
Paired it with a 2500 series reel loaded with 10# braid.
Because of their light tip, longer length to reach the outer bar, light weight for casting all night ( hint ... ) & back bone to land slobs.

    Berkley® Air™ IM8 Salmon/Steelhead Spinning Rods
Last winter we purchased the last two for $40 a piece ( great deal .... ) from EZ Mart Tackle in Goldsboro.
Well worth the drive - they have everything, every type of rod, every kind of reel & gazillion MirrOlures ...... Lots of stuff to get the feel of.

Key Largos are great rods if you buy the right one for the right species.
The surf picture is to get me motivated .......
This Red was landed on the Steelhead setup .......

    Hope this helps ........ ICM
