Having a few friends for dinner
After a wonderful 2 weeks in Delacroix La, it is nice to be back home and I was needing to get out and find some fish so I will know what is happening when the next trip rolls in.
As with most days for me, they start with a nice sunrise, well this one was not the prettiest that I have seen but I am thankful for every one I get...

Our first stop showed me nothing but the current had not started moving much and after 10 minuets, it was time to move shallower to another set of rocks and the action started. I lost a nice one about 3 to 4 pounds, just out from the boat and Karl put a nice one to the boat about 3.5 pounds and it was on. I set my rod in the rod holder while I netted Karl's fish and when I looked up, it was bent over with another good one. Before I got it near the boat, Karl was hooked up again and my fish came unglued again, Karl was spanking my butt at this point.
My next cast I cone tight with a nice fish, pulling good drag and dogging me good and I soon realized that it was not a Trout, yep, you guessed it...I'm stuck on Red Drum

Soon I got into the grove and got a nice fish in the live well and then the smaller fish invaded us. Now when I say smaller fish, I am referring to 16 to 18" fish, not what I am looking for but fun anyway. After about 25 to 30 fish, it was time to move and I went and hit a flat with a deep channel where I find big fish this time of year and yep they were there. By now, we had switched to MR 17 on the shallow flat and that seemed to be key as the big fish started to bite and 2 to 4 pound fish were coming to the boat and I got the big hit and after a great fight, the 6.35 was inn the net and live well...

Then a couple of other nice fish...

With the tide falling fast, I wanted to check another spot near where we were before we had to get out of there and not wait on a tide to get back. Another fish came to boat side and it was time to roll. We now had 5 in the live well and that was enough to feed Karl and myself.
We moved out to the wider part of the creek and when we found they, it was almost every cast, not big fish but it was small keepers that we through back. 4 fish in a row, miss 1 then 3 in a row miss 1. This went on for over an hour and we decided to call it a morning about 11:45, we had boated more than 50 fish and had a great morning, called it a day and back to the ramp with out new friends that we had to dinner...

Another great day with a good friend!
Thanks for taking the time to read this
