Had two young fly anglers out tonight. One just built a new 9 wt rod and the other it was his first time saltwater fishing as he had only freshwater fly fished before.

Started out on the beach front with 68 degree water and a beautiful calm night. Angler with the new rod was using intermediate line and the first time angler was using sinking line. Started them both out using pink/white clousers and began catching croakers. Had a pretty steady bite with the croakers and with a couple of weakies.

Fished till about dark and moved to the inside of the inlet jetty where we worked the inside rocks. Water there was 61 degrees. Here got first striper ever for the angler with the new rod and a couple of minutes later he landed a 17 inch weakie. Both were caught on a black/purple clouser. Never got a picture and forgot to take one later as we thought we found a good spot and wanted to keep fishing.

Moved further in where we got two more bass on the black/purple clousers. One was the biggest of the night, close to 24 inches.

It was probably one of the nicest nights for fishing this year. No wind nice and warm, no bugs and good fishing and the guys were fun to take out. Nice night for all.
