    Goals for 2009

Tying season is closing in for me and this is the time of year I start to think about what I want to catch on the fly in 2009.

The old standby's will be there in the Chesapeake region...

    Pickerel this winter
    Yellow and white perch
    flounder and maybe a trout.
heck, I might even hit a stream if I can get out west.
    Stripers all year
    A few blues by summer
    Maybe a spanish.

    Goals for the year....

-I still want to catch a tuna on the fly or at least hook one of the bastards.
    -A drum and/or speck

Of course I also want to have a damn good time with some damn good friends.

I wish everyone a happy and healthy new year with a lot of pullage.

    What do you have planned?

still looking for that first red "puppy" drum on the fly.

also fix my tailing loop and learn to double haul - both of those should help with the first.

oh yeah - and fish MORE

    My wife, No release yet.
Tie with Bob Pop, cast with Lefty, drink with you and Tony - I'll get all of that done at Tiefest.

Like you, I want a tuna on a fly. Albies don't count. Need a YFT or Bluefin, maybe a blackfin out of Hatteras. Cobia have also hurt my feelings too many times. I will settle the score this summer ( I hope).

Oh to be young again, well at least feel that way, as I am still young in mind and heart...
No more Tunas on fly for me anymore, I hurt to much the day after, AJ are about the same way, but I do enjoy seeing you guys do all that...
fishsalmon, never have met you or seen you cast, but I would bet that your tailing loop of yours is comming from, NOT stoping your rod at the end of your cast, I mean like you hit a brick wall. Try that sometime...
Cutter, Cobia have hurt more than my feelings and so have Tarpon... Those 2 fish are tuff on equptment when they get near the boat...

fishsalmon and Dave, I know where you both can get those cherries poped on the red colored fish and a Speck too...

As for me and 09, I just want to push people around in the skinnie water and watch the joy, amazment and tears of trying to get a fly in front of that spotted tail waving in their face...
I've cought my fish, now I'm just happy to watch others catch thiers...

Heres a couple of picks for ya on a cold winter night...

    Last one...

    Lee,
Thank you for the tip. May need to wander down your way this year. My guess is you have a better sight fishing area than we do for pups. Up here I have to go where I think they are and blind cast for them. Very murky water most of the year.

Blake, this time of year, our water is Gin clear most ot the time, thing is on fly, you need to fish for they in the warm part of the day when they get active and it gets windy. When you do find them, the schools a very large, sometimes over 200 to 300 fish in a school. In the spring, summer and fall, water is not always that clear but we are fishing in 6 to 8" of water so if dirty you can still see them tailing or see them push water, but your still sight casing to them.
When you guys see Bob and Lefty, tell them I said hi...
