Had the pleasure of having Craig, Jane, Emma and Claire for a half day of chasing Reds.
After a quick 'walk the dog' lesson we start off with topwaters. Jane promptly picks one up on her third cast. I'm seeing some fish but the bait is so thick you could walk on it so we scoot to the next bay.
As soon as we settle into a nice drift that would slowly move us down the bank just right Craig gets his topwater slammed.
Quiet for a little bit so we switched over to spoons and plastics. Emma joins in as soon as gets comfy with the silver spoon.
Settle back in and bam 100+ fish sitting on a ditch mouth in 10" of water and they don't spook. Powerpole down give Claire a Gulp shrimp and she tosses it just right and its on.
The school makes two rounds and settles right back. Since everyone has had their shot and the visibilty is pretty good we sit and watch the school for a while. Four circles around the boat and an accidental hatch slam sets them running.
At this point we run into enough nets that it took me 20 minutes to get around them.
We take a few more casts before we head in and Claire nabs her second fish and bragging rights.
Nice to see someone can still catch Reds......
I got skunked yesterday........ ICM
When on a buddies Mitz & poling has got to be an Art Form, we looked like the Three Stooges on water.......
" I said this way numb skull...! " " Hey Moe, look a fishy.... "
I have seen you on the reds and I know better than that to think you got skunked. You line up the Mitzi and I will pole the boat for free! My son and I enjoyed Lee's presentation Tuesday night and we appreciate you guys letting us attend. Good fishing to you!
