The basic flies to tie for saltwater are Clousers and Deceivers....I like the BTD...Buck Tail Deceivers by Bob popovics. Get his book Pop Fleyes...along with Clousers Flies and some Lefty Kreh books. It'll help you get going without a doubt.

also check out aswf.org saltwater flies section for some instructions to get you started.

A clouser or a jiggy are the easiest to start with. Atlantic Saltwater Fly Anglers, a fly club north of our club has a super fly tying section. They show you how to do both the flies I mentioned plus a ton of others. Bob Popovics and Stever Farrar show some good flies. http://aswf.org/

We are working on getting our SJCFA club web site back to where it was. Had a member leave us who had our site really going well and have started over making it a little easier to control. We hope to have it better by summer.

I started with the Clouser, and if a visually impaired person can do it without too much frustration, I'm sure you'll pick it up too! My way is a litle hard to give instuctions for because it is by feel. The Deceiver was my second to learn, and then the Seaducer. I list them only because they kind of lead me along the path to learning the techniques for tying. Good Luck, and I hope you find the tying addiction a fun one!

WL....I still find what you do amazing. You've gotta post some pics of your flies.

I tried to tie a clouser last night with my eyes closed and while it might catch a bluefish it's not exacly pretty.

Bunny flies are something you should try out too. They're tied just like seaducers but are bunny strips instead of hackles. There is a mono loop tied on the hook shank to keep the "tail" from fouling too.
