a day of dock fishing to remember!

Fished yesterday, for hours on end with fresh mullet and gulp and had no luck. So my hopes for today where very low. I guess it was safe to say that in the beginning I was mainly casting around just to "mess around". But by the 5ish cast I was hooked up with a big stingray, and this immediately gave me a new perspective on the day! Kept casting my gulp down the docks, and didnt find much but some pitifully small lizardfish. Still better than nothing, and when its been as long as it's been since I have fished even trash fish where fun to mess with! Kept moving down the docks and eventually i found myself dragging this sucker up on the beach!

Don’t laugh at the shades-LOL forgot my costa's at school!

Fished for another 30 minutes or so, and didn’t catch anything more. So with the rising tide I hit the beach for some skimboarding! Waves where choppy, and not breaking on the shore. So after messing around with some strong wind and crappy waves I gave up! Headed back home, and cleaned the flounder for dinner tonight with the last of the grouper! While cleaning fish, I said to my dad “Today would be legendary if I caught a redfish.” He smirked, and replied “Don’t get greedy” I than hungout with some friends for a bit, and than the time came to come home! While waiting on dinner, I proceeded to walk out on the dock and cast around a little, while waiting for dinner. I didn’t expect to catch a darn thing. But sure enough, first cast my line tookoff! Excited, because this fish was going for the pilings, I knew exactly what he was!...I tightened the drag but it was no use. Scared, excited, and nervous my mind was racing. I palmed my spool, and this saved the day! The fish came to a hault and I turned my entire body into it and turned the fish around in his tracks! Swimming right towards me, I took quick advantage and dragged him up on the beach! Disbelief came, as I realized how awesome this drum was!

He came out to be a solid 23 inches!

Redfish was released to be caught another day! Flounder was delish…

All in all, a great ending to a great day! I think its defiantly save to say I made lemonade out of the lemons the weather wind gave us! :-)
