We should get together soon. I got the lower unit replaced and am back on the water. Have you ever heard of that happining to a outboard? And it was only three years old.

She will be ready for the rock jetty in November so if you see those trout before me tell them to watch out.

How are the Flemings doing?
Ya, I had a bran new lower unit get full of water first time out, bad seal and that is usually what causes the failure, water intrusion. I comes from 2 places, the impeller seal (fails from not being replaced in a timely manor) and the prop seal, fails from line, braid or mono getting in to the seal. I check mine once a month and if I get line in the prop, that night. I also change my lower unit oil once a month in the summer and every 3 months in the winter. My engine oil, every 50 hours or if it looks black, sooner.

Last I heard, they were back in Chapel Hill. I will check on them this weekend and report back what I find out.
