Wonderful report and pictures Lee and Mike! Did we get some snow yesterday?

I heard/believe the crustacean diet thing too and that is probably the source (lots of crabs, I dropped fish carcasses here all summer long), but Lee and I have talked about this a bunch lately and we think that they 'light up' when excited just like the bluewater fish.

...had my long johns on too.

Ya we had snow but it didn't stick... 15kt north wind and running 26kts, put a little nip in the morning air...

As to the blue on their tail. Some have it and some don't. I'm sure that diet has something to do with it but the hundreds that we have caught, seems that the shallower the water and the harder they fight, the more "lit up" their tail is. Most people don't notice it till I fan out the tail and show it to them...

I gotcha. I really noticed it on 2 fish and it extended about an inch from the edge into the tail. It was opaque in appearance and I should have taken a picture of it as it was the same color as the grips.
