My fishing club had a bass tournament for the month of May. I gave it a strong push in the last week, but came up short. The winner was 42 lbs.
When the bunker are running, I'll either run out at 4:00 am and fish until 8, or 4:00 pm and fish until dark. Sorry, not too many pictures
May 22 - First trip, ran out alone in the afternoon. Strong south wind made finding bait tough. Leaving the depth finder behind made it tougher. Managed to make 2 baits, but no takers
May 23 - Find out from an email that my wife volunteered me to bring bass to that afternoon's picnic, so the pressure was on, ran out early (alone again, I need some friends), picked up a 25 pounder south of manasquan inlet and kept my rep with the baseball crew
May 25- Ran out in the am with Kyle and his buddy, lots of bait but managed only 1 fish. They had fun making bait and watching a whale corral the bunker. I told them to take a nap and we would go again in the evening, but 11 year olds don't do naps. So when it was time to leave they were dead to the world and I left them behind. Their loss, I boated 8 between 25-30 lbs off Spring Lake. 2 doubles made things interesting.
May 29 - Ran out after work and boated 3. I forget where, the weekend's a blur
May 30 - Fished with Dad and Kyle in the am - Picked up one fish off SL.
May 31 - dawn patrol with Capt Daley - Picked up 3 off Belmar. Ran back out with Kyle and Dad in the afternoon, lots of bait and the whale was back, but no bites
Only brought the camera one day, here's Brian working the pods at sunrise, and my bait maker doing his thing
