Back to the top with this one. All of your hunters should think long and hard about bidding on this one. It's one heck of a property and a great chance at a unique animal.

I know times are a little tight- so to broaden the audience a little, I will provide the following option:

I highly recommend the two day/two man bowhunt, especially with the Sunday hunts available during the sika rut in October. But I'll give the winner the option instead to choose a one day/two man firearm hunt, either during rifle season or late muzzleloader. Most likely it will not be during the Maryland Early muzzleloader, as I already have obligations. This option would still include meals and one night's stay.

Good luck bidding!
Will you also allow whitetail harvest on this hunt?

There are no whitetail on the property. It is 100% sika.

If requested, we might be able to take you to a whitetail place about an hour away from the sika property, but I'd fully recommend staying in the marsh and chasing the "swamp goats".

Heck, if you come at the right time of year we can go try and shoot some ducks or geese too.

We have the ability to add almost any species huntable in MD to this auction if the price is right. MONEY TALKS!! and the sky is the limit here.

A handgun hunt would have to occur during our firearms season which starts on the Sat. after Thanksgiving and runs for two weeks.

Frank, if you wanted to do a 2 day, one man, handgun hunt, that would be OK with me. In fact, in 95% of our setups, a good handgun is all you need, due to the thick cover. (Also why bow hunting is great, too.) Since its a private non-commercial club, I am just trying to offer the options that will keep my fellow members happy. Honestly, the pressure is pretty light all season- last year my son and I were the only hunters on 1,000 acres on the first Saturday of the late muzzleloader season.

There hasn't been a whitetail sighted on this place in the last 15 years. As Dave said, switching to whitetails is not a problem, but would involve another property less than an hour away. (But our whitetail place is in a shotgun/muzzleloader county- no handguns allowed.) Also, adding a waterfowl hunt is easy enough, but generally speaking (Not officially set yet for next year), most waterfowl seasons are out during the modern firearms season, with various overlaps during bow or muzzleloader. Like mosts other states I've been to, Maryland's regs can be confusing, so please ask any questions.

Here's a picture from two weeks ago:

By the way, hunting over bait for deer is legal in Maryland. This year we are feeding a better mix of protein and are feeding all summer. If you absolutely want to almost guarantee a shot at a sika deer, you will have the option of setting up next to a feeder in our "uplands", or you can hunt out in the big marsh. As you can imagine, most of our big bucks do not visit the feeders during shooting hours. You will be encouraged to take a doe (or hind, as they are actually called) as part of our management program. In the past, antler restrictions on bucks (stags) have been voluntary- there's a chance that might change at our September meeting.
