Up The Creek With Two Paddles...

Oren and I took advantage of spectacular day-off weather yesterday and loaded up the Grady with the canoe for some exploration up one of our local coastal rivers. It was an all-day affair and more paddling than this white boy has done in DECADES, but boy oh boy did it sure pay off!!!

All day long cutthroat, rainbow, and silver bright coho action until our arms all but fell off. Coastal wolves, black bears, eagles, and kingfishers were our only company all day long.

    You gotta love Vancouver Island!!!!!

Canon 5D Mark II - super stoked on this camera! We've been shooting a lot of HD video with it too, going to try and put a short DVD together for youtube or something once i get back from my steelhead trip!

Exactly, i photoshopped out all of the urban sprawl, smog, and cleared up the waters a bit, played with the size of the fish, heck - even Oren came out looking like he knows what he's doing!

The magic of technology - gotta love it!

    Zee countdown ees on....

Since Cath took off for Nootka Island and her surfing/filming adventure a week ago Mr. Mom has been in full effect around the house here. I tell you, you don't fully appreciate Mom until she is gone!!! But I can by now safely report that i have survived the most ultimate test of fatherhood once again - the dreaded week alone with the kids. Nothing like unsupervised days on end with the pre-teens to test a man's mettle.

I've heard enough Justin Bieber, Miley Cyrus, and Avril Lavigne to last a lifetime though, and the sleepover saturday night nearly did me in. But it's monday now and the kids are off to school, which means it's fishing time once again, and i'm forced with another tough decision - to head offshore for salmon/halibut, or try my hand at freshwater instead. Tisk tisk....

With a scant 48 hours left on the clock until Cath returns home and i am free to head up north for two glorious weeks of undisturbed steelhead flyfishing, i find myself staring at the calendar, and scratching the passage of time along the walls.

All the laundry's done, the dishes are gone from the sink, dare i say the house is somewhat tidy, and we haven't been to the hospital or police station yet. Two more days baby....just two more days!!!!
