    They're Still Biiiiiiiiting.....

Just got back from loading up the Maximo for the next 3 day assault and met Gernsey and Barnes at the dock. They both slayed them today, and over the past few days up to 150#'s out there. Gernsey said he had a drift going today for over 4 hrs with just him and his friend on board and double headers and fish bendo all drift long. They looked sunburnt, slightly heatered, and extremely happy. My kind of calamity right there. Nice work Capt Gernsey and Capt Barnsanator...hope you left some for me!!!

    Stay tuned...something special comin soon!

Long story short for now...very long, rough ride out to the grounds today as everyone but us opted to stay ashore with this system blowing through. 65 miles of nastiness straight in your face. Thank god the kidney purifying run was worth it. We literally ran out of bait, pounding the tunas up to 175#'s and losing at least two that would have gone 200 thanks to our fatigue and impatience. It got to the point where even the crew was tired of reeling in fish. The meter was ridiculous, thick, home-made spaghetti all day long.

I don't know about you guys, but being the only boat out there and having that kind of big fish fishing all to yourselves is cause for celebration indeed. Jared treated us all to a feast at the 4 Seasons tonight and i am at this point bloated, happy, grateful, ready to do it all over again tomorrow, and in dire need of some rest.

Maybe i'm already dreaming, and if so please let me continue to sleep.

Wow that sounds pretty epic JT, that kind of fishing will cure all weather related issues And you'll be happy to know your other NBA client Kaman is an ALL STAR this year...I have to get down there soon, all healed up from the hernia surgery, need to catch big fish again ....this El Nino is going to keep the fishin good all winter.

Man we killed them again yesterday despite the 30 knots of wind and angry seas. I'm eating Advil like tic-tacs today thanks to a couple of days in the tower in that weather. I'm certainly not getting any younger, that's for sure.

The port captain shut down the harbors, so no fishing today.

I'll try and get a report up later with all of the photos, but for today these bones need some rest!

    Sobrino,

Lordy, Lordy, I do love "the tower"! Best seat in the house for sure! But when it's nasty, yessiree Bob, it can result in feeling like you've been in a bar fight and lost . Been there (including losing the bar fight...but not many), done that.

Still, as you know, if you're addicted to The Jaybird Seat, it's worth it...pretty much . Cracked three ribs once up in my tower during a day that I should never have been up there in the first place. Hurt so bad I couldn't climb down and the ride was so wild, I probably couldn't have, even without the busted ribs anyway.

Hell, we kept fishing and the fish were biting like crazy (how come they do that?), so we finished out the day. Then, once I got her back in the slip the pain was too much and I couldn't climb out of the tower even then. So, they had to sling me out of the tower with a sky picker over at the fuel dock. It was embarrassing as hell, what with a big, ugly bear swinging on a string and cursin' and bitchin' and moaning and groaning like a little girl.

But we sure had a great day of fishin', so it was worth it, as I'm sure you can understand and people who aren't addicted to the Sky Seat don't. Back at it the next day, loaded up with pain pills. No pain (and I mean NO pain...took the good stuff), but I was so screwed up I drove right over a blue girl I was backing down on...oops!

    EEEHAWWW! Ride 'em cowboy!

Catch 'em up, Sobrino! Pero quidado.
