went fishing in port o' this weekend. got out started running to the spot and realized we forgot to put the plugs in, so we kept going to keep the boat afloat. got the plugs in at the spot, threw the lines in at incoming tide. all three of us hookup at the same time. I had a redfish on, and asked for the net, then realizing, oh forgot the net. I immediately flop the fish into the boat. Hook comes out of the mouth, the fish flips to the other side of the boat and goes off the opposite side, to splash back into the water. i dont think ive ever had that happen to me, a pig red, in the boat, caught and go flying out a second later back into the gulf. and for it to be a limit fish, killed me even more. not looking forward to the next time that happens.

Sounds like your Redfish did the Mahi Flop. I saw one slap three out of four people in the cockpit on his way out the boat once. Even left a bloody tail mark on the cowling. Get him next time. Plugs are important. Thanks for the report.

Seems like you guys forgot a lot of important things. Maybe you should consider a check list before you head out. Might be a safety issue.

I've also had dorado depart the boat. Once from the fish box.

We sure did cat, problem with the plugs though, was we let a relative run the boat a day earlier, and as for the net...slipped my mind. Checklist next time for sure.
