STEVE COGGIN..ARTIST,FISHERMAN and FRIEND

I just wanted to plug a great member of the SFC Community. Steve Coggin. Steve is one of the most dedicated,hard-working, and passionate lure makers around. This man creates everything himself....from pouring lead for his inserts, to grinding shells to his specific shape, pouring color, sanding and polishing....Steve does this all with the love and dedication that has made him a legend in the fishing community.

Steve, thank you for your friendship....and good luck in Maui !

best jetted resin lures available, bar none. I tried to make a jetted lure once and failed dismally and so now I leave them to the master - Steve Coggin!

I got the chance to meet Steve and talk with him about some specific lures - A damn nice addition to my arsenal too.

Nice guy, very willing to share. Beautiful work!!!

Steve Coggins

Steve is one of the nicest guys in this business. The two photo's below are of my boat after winning two of our biggest marlin "club tournaments" in Southern California in 2008. The Balboa Angling Club Master Angler Billfish Tournament (light line tourney with 45 boats entered) and the Churchmouse Invitational (benefits youth-focused charities in Avalon on Catalina Island with over 80 boats entered).

The pictures look similar in terms of flags :-) but they are two different tourneys - We released 5 striped marlin in each of these two tournaments. Of the 10, 7 were jig fish. My Coggins were our secret weapons during these two tournaments accounting for most of our jig releases and several of our shots at drop-back fish as they came up in the spread on the Coggins. Steve's lures are beautiful to me...but more importantly...they look good to the spikes!!

Steve is truly one of the good ones. He is always ready to help out a passionate angler or an organization in need.
