    Revillagigedo Islands Open Charters

It's official folks, after years of lobbying we now have approval and permitting to run open charters to the Revillagigedo Islands!!!

For those of you that have been keeping up with the reports you know that we've run two successful private trips out to Isla Socorro and Roca Partida on the Salty, and now we will be offering open fishing charters to the islands starting in May of 2010. This is the first time that anyone has been able to offer unrestricted fishing trips to the Rev's in nearly 10 years!!!

We have secured a beautiful 78 foot sport fisher for these trips and look forward to running at least one trip per month from December - June (July - November is hurricane season!).

If you are interested in booking one of these trips do not hesitate to contact me at captjosh@mac.com as demand is going to be very high, and space is very limited.

While we are allowed to retain all regular Mexican federal limits of fish within the restricted zone, we are adamant about protecting this resource and the viability of fish stocks so we are self-imposing reduced retention limits during these voyages. Anglers will be allowed to retain half of the normal allowance of wahoo, tuna, and other pelagics as dictated by current Mexican federal law.

We firmly believe that this resource can be managed correctly, and that the proceeds of our permit fees will contribute to the kind of scientific study, regulation, and conservation that will ensure the Revillagigedo Islands remain one of the world's premiere fishing and diving locations.

OUR MAY "NBA PLAYERS" TRIP IS ALREADY SOLD OUT!!!

NEXT AVAILABLE DATES JUNE 1 - 6th ARE SOLD OUT!!! DESTINATION CLARION ISLAND!!!

JOIN OUR OPEN CHARTER JUNE 19 - 24TH BEFORE IT'S SOLD OUT TOO!!! DESTINATION CLARION ISLAND!!!

Yes, sorry i forgot to mention that. All trips leave and return from/to Cabo San Lucas.

Prices vary depending on # of anglers and duration of trip. Trips are limited to 6 anglers, and for example a 6 day trip with 6 people you're looking at roughly $7,000 USD per person.

All trips include food, drinks (including beer, wine, and liquor), live bait, licenses, permits, etc. etc. etc. Just bring your camera, and some cash for a tip. Everything else is taken care of, including transfers to and from the airport.

This is a truly unique and rare opportunity to experience one of the best tuna, wahoo, and marlin spots on the planet.

Mike i received your email and you raised some good questions that i'm sure i'll be hearing again, so if you don't mind i'm going to post them up here to benefit everyone. See below.

The next available trip is June 4 - 9th, this is an open charter for up to 6 anglers. Two spots are already gone, there are 4 spots available. Price is $7,000 USD per angler plus IVA (Mexican tax).

1)Do you supply the gear in the fee, meaning hooks , line , sinkers , rods ....ect as i am flying in and would like to bring only shirts, shorts and shoes? YES ALL GEAR IS INCLUDED. THOUGH YOU CAN CERTAINLY BRING SOME OF YOUR OWN RODS/REELS OR TACKLE IF YOU WISH.

    2) How would any fish be returned to the states if one wants to bring some back ? WE WILL FILLET, PACKAGE (ZIP-LOC) AND FREEZE YOUR FISH FOR YOUR RETURN TRIP HOME. YOU MUST BRING A COOLER TO TRANSPORT FISH HOME THOUGH. THERE IS A 100# LIMIT TO COOLERS ON MOST AIRLINES.

    3) are you running this open boat/charter , meaning i book a single spot on a trip and you fill the other spots. YES SOME OF THE DATES WILL BE RUN THIS WAY. OTHERS WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE TO SINGLES. THE JUNE TRIP IS AN OPEN TRIP. PRIVATE GROUPS CAN SELECT SPECIFIC DATES AS AVAILABLE.

    4) what kind of deposit would be needed to lock in ? 50% DEPOSIT TO RESERVE SPACE, FULL PAYMENT IS DUE 30 DAYS PRIOR TO TRIP DEPARTURE.

    5) will you produce a calendar of dates for us to pick from open charters ? THE NEXT OPEN TRIP IS JUNE 4 - 9TH.

    6) I assume all meals are included ? drinks ? A 5 STAR CHEF IS INCLUDED, AS WELL AS A BARTENDER, TWO DECKHANDS, CAPTAIN, AND EITHER MYSELF OR BEN WILL BE ABOARD DURING ALL CHARTERS. ALL MEALS, AND DRINKS INCLUDING BEER, WINE, AND LIQUOR ARE INCLUDED.

    7) How many fishing days do you expect on a 6 day trip? WE WILL HAVE LINES IN THE WATER DURING THE ENTIRE TRIP, WHILE TRAVELING TO AND FROM THE ISLANDS, YOU CAN LITERALLY FISH 24 HRS A DAY FOR THE DURATION OF THE TRIP!

Capt. Josh, you are a lucky man! I'm glad you were able to convince the Mexican authorities to open the island(s) to sport fishing again. I think this will be a benefit to Mexico as well as the fish at the islands, as more eyes in the area will help prevent the illegal commercial fishing that goes on out there on a regular basis.

I also think you've picked the best boat for the task with the Gladiator. It's by far my favorite boat in the Cabo marina, as it's a fishing boat and not just a pretty face.

Good luck and keep us posted please.

Thanks amigo. It's been a long, tough process to gingerly work our way out there. We started almost five years ago with the Maria Islands off of PV and eventually worked our way up to Socorro last December. I think that we've shown the powers that be that we are serious about our commitment to preserving the integrity of the fishery, and they are obviously supportive of our efforts thus far.

Most importantly, we are utilizing a local Mexican licensed operation, running trips from a local Mexican town, and contributing to the local Mexican economy on a myriad of levels. All of this equates to one thing - creating and maintaining jobs in Mexico. A very important facet to remember when the country has had a terrible run of luck lately.

In the past, anglers fishing the Rev's would rarely, if ever, step foot in Mexico or channel any of their money to local economies. Sure, a few dollars went to permit fees, but let's face it, not much money wound up in the hands of the country that deserved it.

With this endeavor we are ensuring that the economic benefit to enjoying this world class fishery is channeled to the appropriate people. We are certainly creating job opportunities in Mexico, and contributing to the local economy from airline services, restaurants, hotels, bars, tackle stores, taxis, etc etc etc. In these times itineraries such as these, and the much needed economic boost that they provide, are a much needed sign of hope to an industry that has endured serious attrition during the past few years.

It is a first step, but a promising one and certainly one in the right direction.
