well keep it up amigo, you have it all dialed in. What a hog of a yellowfin to start your season on the new ride. The swords will come, they are a rare breed and my favorite to fight.

    Sobrino,

Those are bigeye threshers, Alopias superciliosus. It is a deep water species that as you discovered, is mostly caught by sword fishermen and drift gillnet night sets. Very strong fish. The gillnetters hate 'em because the big ones roll up in their nets and tend to trash and dissable them (yay threshers!) They get well over a grand and are bad to the bone on rod and reel. The Hawiians have a small group of big tackle guys who catch a lot of them at night while swording.

You'll know it when you hook a grande! Ouch ! Tell Steve to eat them Wheaties!

p.s. The common and pelagic threshers, the surface oriented ones, are much better eating...and also bad to the bone.

I might have known that you guys would discover a basically heretofore, but special gamefish down there that few, if any, knew were around! Now, here's another mission impossible...a Salty Super Grand Slam. A yellowfin, a sail, a blue, a black, a sword and a thresher. Oh, momma, now dat be a slam and a unique one at that!

Slamma, slamma, slamma jam slamma, do dee whop 'n whompin' on dem fishies.

Some day and night when the moon and stars are aligned just right? Oh well, if anybody could do it, you guys could!

A job for a pack of pirates only...plus maybe dat Gman...he crazy 'n baaad too! (Dat firs part da mos 'portant dere, sabe?)

Prayin' I could be with you guys .

    insane report and pics JT!

curious as to how the fishing in PV is affected if the El Nino holds true and the storms stay more southerly...do you guys get more cooler water and therefore some random species to target?

    Keep em coming brother
