No, all on the meat. Though we did have some amazing 8hr non-stop popper and jig bites on smaller tunas and wahoo!

I have to defer to my colleague Frosty for that info. He's no doubt putting the mask to good use somewhere in Mexico right now...

Have you ever tried for the big ones out there with the topwaters or the metal? If not, do you think putting in the time would eventually pay off. Lots of jigging and popping enthusiasts want to know!

Surely wouldn't be as effective as the meat, but would be a thrilling take and a very satisfying catch. The newest J and P tackle is up to it, as are the anglers' skills.

Great report all around! Those are some bitchin' tuna. Looking forward to the feature in SF!

These fish are absolutely top candidates for jigs and poppers as they just don't see any pressure whatsoever. The trouble can be getting through the sheer quantity of small and medium sized fish that have a tendency to demolish any popper or jig you throw out there. I'd love to see a group of hard-core jiggers and poppers book one of these weeks to put it to the ultimate test.

I have no doubt that the equipment is up to it, Paul's JPR rods have definitely kicked some ass out there!
