Well as most of us know the current has changed and is raging in from the south...good news and bad news as it's bringing with it a ton of crappy water...but it's warm and there's lots of bait with it...
As often happens when the water rolls over fishing usually drops off for a little while...but when the water eventually cleans up it goes richter in a BIG way...particularly when we have a south current...
Right now the fishing is shitty there is no doubt about that...all day efforts yielding a few pint sized tunas, a dorado and maybe a billfish or two...we ran all over the place yesterday hoping Terrafin was wrong...well, it wasn't...and we wound up with a handful of small tunas from el banco and a year's worth of jack crevalle...still not a proper skunking but from what we've been spoiled with this winter season...a far cry from something to celebrate about...
The water is pea soup from cabo corrientes to just about Isla Isabella where Brant and the Redneck crew decided to run to get out of the mud...they did OK up there so look for that report...but our local waters and anywhere within an 80 mile run of the marina is no bueno at the moment...
The GOOD NEWS is...the current out there is raging...i registered 1.7 knots against the wind yesterday at it's strongest...so that means all that blue water that's holding off Manzanillo and Barra right now won't take long to get here...and when it does....and when it DOOOOEEESSSS....
I'm predicting the bite is going to be INSANE...so by my calculations we've got 3 or 4 days to get everything fixed, cleaned, polished, re-spooled, re-rigged and READY...
Let the preparation begin...and let's hope that south current keeps coming!!!
