Very tender Taco meat!
Sobrino,
Penso rayalo chico.
Caught spears in Cabo. Don't look like them to me.
Tio
did it chase and try to suck down and kill your 6lb skipjack? If so, probably a sail hahahaha...
I have no guess what it is, but seems like more of these are being caught now than vaconas....very sad![]()
this fish is listed as a striped marlin, so I am going with juvenile striped marlins FWIW. -

Looks a little like the small billfish they used to catch in the East Cape, also thought of as juvenile stripers:

If not, then possibly a hybrid ?
Editor and Chief of Sportfishing Mag just sent us the memo that he is in firm belief that they are indeed Longbilled Spearfish. First Documented in the Pacific. The winning shot was of the Anal fin, which is in the proper position for that of a Longbill.
We just partied appropriately!
This fish when it came out of the water immediately had all of us scratching our heads. All of the crew noticed something different about it. We have all handled numerous billfish of all sizes and species but this one was new to all of us. One thing I can say as I handled that fish, it did not feel like a marlin or a sail. It was much softer and slimier, almost like a needlefish. I have caught some small stripeys here down to 25 lbs but this fish, not far off in size, seems to have many different characteristics.
Congrats JT and crew. Man there cute when there that small...![]()
