Anyone who knows me can attest to my love for giant fish, exotic locations, sleek yachts, a stiff drink, fine cigars, and beautiful women.
For me, there's NOTHING like standing up in the tower while my crew and anglers down in the pit wrestle monsters. Over 3,000 horses ready to charge at the snap of my fingers, cool cocktail in hand, smooth cigar puffing, going backwards in a HURRY. It's one of those moments in life where, particularly for me, it does NOT GET ANY BETTER THAN THIS.
While i was in Miami with SALTY, i struck up a friendship with the boys at Padilla Cigar Company. Very cool group of core individuals who have a lineage that takes them back to the shores of Old Cuba, where their grandfathers would sip Cuban rum drinks with the likes of Ernest Hemingway. I've seen the photos...old man Padilla and the Old Man & The Sea drinking rum and enjoying a fine Cuban hand rolled cigar as the cerulean waves of the Atlantic gave cadence to the lifestyle that the boys so fervently sought to achieve. Cigars, and fishing, go a long way back in Cuba.
Tradition, respect, honor, and pride were of paramount importance in those days, and the new generation of Padilla boys have not forgotten what their grandfathers and great grandfathers sought to uphold before them.
The Padilla family is renown for their success in the cigar industry, but it was their love for the ocean and fishing that brought us together. A chance meeting out on the water one weekend in Miami has led to a friendship that will carry us to more distant waters, and more invigorating adventures, in the years to come.
"We need to launch a new cigar brand that will encompass this lifestyle, this opportunity that we enjoy. To truly harness the potential of adventure, and share that feeling of inspiration with the world." Said the Padillas.
"Giddy up!" said JT.
So, amongst other things, i am pleased to announce my relationship with the Padilla Cigar family. I hope to share a Cabo Cigar with you some day in paradise, along a remote and adventure laden shore where big fish, fast boats, strong rum, and beautiful women are oft to be found.
There's some exciting stuff coming down the pipe with all of this. http://twitter.com/caboscigar
