Large Mouth Brown Trout Charity Fishing Tournament

Just wanted to let you guys know about a fun charity fishing tournament being held in Portsmouth, VA on July 17, 2010. It is shaping up to be a fun fishing event with some really great prizes, followed by one hell of a party at Portsmouth Boating Center. All proceeds go to the ROC SOLID FOUNDATION in support of their flagship program, Play it Forward, which constructs high-end custom playgrounds for children undergoing the debilitating treatment of pediatric cancer. In many ways, this program is built on the understanding that often: A SMILE IS THE BEST MEDICINE.

We are still tweaking the tournament website, but please feel free to check it out! We are also still looking for both cash sponsors and individuals/companies who would be willing to donate merchandise that we can use in silent auctions and raffles. If you or someone that you know is interested in becoming a sponsor/donor, please let me know! ROC SOLID is a 501(c)(3) documented non-profit, so any and all donations are tax deductable!

Tournament to be followed by an awards ceremony/party with great live music, BBQ & steamed crabs, beer, silent auctions, raffles, cornhole tournament, and more!

We will have some great prizes, silent auctions and raffles at the tournament party. So far, we have accumulated come very generous product donations from companies such as Pelagic, Yeti Coolers, Bishop Fishing Supply, Vineyard Vines, Aftco, Star Rods, BOE Marine, and artwork from the Blue Pelican Gallery.

Capt. Josh Temple has even been so kind as to donate a salmon and halibut charter in Tofino, British Columbia with him on his personal boat this summer!!!! In the words of JT himself, “This is a once in a lifetime shot to fish with us in one of the world’s most celebrated National Geographic environments. Salmon and halibut till your arms fall off!” On top of that, JT is also donating a day of fishing with him in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico!!!! Chances to win each of these awesome trips will be availale at the tournament and online, so please stay tuned for more info on how to get in on the action!

Where: Portsmouth Boating Center (Tournament HQ and Party location); Anywhere in Hampton Roads Harbor (tournament boundaries)
Cost: FISHING: $40 per person (Includes Tee-shirt and BBQ/Party) YOUTH DIVISION (Under 12): FREE (Donations Welcome!) BBQ/PARTY ONLY: $25 Early Bird Special (by June 19th) $30 after YOUTH (Under 12): FREE (Donations Welcome!)
Categories (Adult and Youth Divsions): Largest Spot, Largest Croaker, Largest Puppy Drum, Puppy Drum with the most spots!
