I'm Outta Here!

OK boys, the countdown has officially started! I leave tomorrow at 5am for two weeks of steelhead fishing on the Skeena river and it's tributaries. I haven't haunted these hallowed grounds for nearly half a decade, so I am keenly interested in rediscovering the promised land for steelhead aficionados the world over. It's a fly-only show for Mike, Mike2 aka Steinman, and yours truly. With my truck absolutely loaded to the gills, and the jet boat securely trailered astern, we are cocked and ready for the adventure.

Dear sweet baby steelhead Jesus....bestow upon us your benevolence and shower us not with drizzle, sleet, rain or snow, but with mighty wild BC steelhead detonating on skated dry flies with biblical fury. May the rivers run clean, the skies stay blue, and may the fish come with consistency, stature, and holy reckless abandon. AMEN!!!

I heard the Skeena system is expecting a legit (read "record size") run of overgrown trout this season. Battling an large stud buck with a bad attitude on a 2 hander is fish warfare at its finest!

Sending good thoughts on stable flows and good drifts. This early rain is already messing with our fall Chinook runs down here.

You should probably grow a "steelhead camp beard" for good-luck...the steelhead gods always respect that sort of thing.
