Thx in advance,
I haven't spent that much time fishing off Acapulco, and for good reason. While i'm sure it used to provide some great fishing, once upon a time, there's little to get excited about these days as long liners and relentless inshore commercial pressure has all but wiped out the nearshore waters.
Acapulco was one of the first real tourist destinations in Mexico, and as such has suffered a much longer history and subsequent depletion of local fish stocks than most other coastal tourism locations along the Pacific coast. In laymans terms, it's been raped for a long, long time now and the scars of abuse certainly show.
If you are willing to head beyond 50 - 75 miles from Acapulco in any direction you'll be able to find much better fishing than within striking range of the local charter and commercial fleet. There's little structure offshore, so you are going to have to hope for a migratory school of porpoise and tuna, or a passing marlin or sailfish or two. Dorado don't have much of a shot of getting through the local spiderweb of longlines.
South of Acapulco a few hundred miles is the town of Huatulco, if you can make it down there you'll have much better fishing. I've spent a lot of time in that town over the years and there are some excellent days to be had down there on marlin and tuna. Inshore sailfish, dorado, and rooster fishing is excellent as well. If you're in the area I'd highly recommend spending a few days with one of the better charter boats out of marina Chahue in Huatulco, as the fishing there is a hundred times better than Acapulco.
Hope this helps amigo, good luck!

Was thinking of doing a quick vacation there and was wondering what the possibilities were. But you make a lot of sence man! So thx for the comeback. BTW how is the fishing the next 2 months in PV or is the time to be there in nov, dec, jan and feb!!

I definitely would not consider Acapulco as a great vacation destination. It's very dirty and much too crowded for my liking. Huatulco, however, would be an excellent choice in the next few months and the fishing is very good down there at this time of year.
PV has been great for the past 5 - 6 months but you've had to go very far to get them, at least 50 miles and up to 100 at times from the marina. If i were you, and i was looking for a nice spot to go on vacation, i'd take a serious look at Huatulco for this time of year. I've done very well down there in May and June on both black and blue marlin, and tuna.
Whatever you decide, good luck!

Just driven through the middle america trench off Acapulco. Dead as a dead thing! One half assed porpoise tuna school that we plucked a couple of 20lbers from and that was it. great water, current etc but dead. The rest of the coast was great all the way up from panama. now off Manzinillo and starting to see more life again. Haven't caught a single mahi the whole trip which is a bit sad.
