awesome stuff. Thanks for sharing that. I always wondered what that process involved. Now if anybody doesn't mind me asking, what does a marlin of that stature and detail cost to recreate like that?

Its my understanding painting a bit brighter can
prevent dull fadage over the years also this mount is going
in a restaurant bar (dimly lit I'm sure)
so I see both views. Awesome job whatever way you go.

Couple more of Kevins mounts
This one was a 101kg Stripey caught on 1kg line, detail of bait in the mouth and all, pretty cool.

are the mounts from NZ still fiberglass mounts? the look so life like - almost like skin mounts.

Yeap Kevins are fibreglass, when you see them up close the detail is amazing, even down to the lice around the anal fin.

Mozza, keep the undates comming on Facebook, if your lucky I might update mine with some pooie nappie photos to show you what you're missing, and maybe to prep Marty bates for what hes got himself in for
Look forward to a beer and chat when you're back, go get em.

I was thinking the same thing. The cartoon Marlin has no subtlety or gradation of the colors, almost as if the paint was applied directly from the can without mixing the colors to get the realistic look. Who knows, maybe that's what they wanted...

The NZ Marlin looks like they used a lot of opaque layers of paint to get the desired results. Amazing job, looks like the fish was just lifted out of the cockpit.
