Josh,
Give the guys at the GPS Store a call. I've bought a couple of things from them and have fished beside them for years. They are local North Carolina boys and will give you a straight, honest answer about it. 910-575-9544 Scott is the man in charge down there.
Wish I could give you an answer myself but hopefully someone else will chime in for you.

10-4 i'm flying back in on thursday to Wilmington so i'll line up a trip out to their place early next week...
I need to pick out a lot of electronics...thought this was a good idea if it works as well as the other thru-hull ones...the less holes the better in my book...
Thanks for the info Squid...gracias...

Hi Josh, if you want temp then you will need to make a hole at some point. You can go with a transom mount temp sensor but I don't think you want a wire running up the transom of your slick cabo. The M260 is an awesome ducer except for this temp issue. The B260 would be the more common ducer to get for a boat like yours. Furuno calls it the 526T-HDD. Or if you can go with the sleek new B164 that is flush mounted. Basically looks like a coffee can with a flange. If you want to really be on the cuttng edge of ducer tech get the SS270. This is a wide beam 1kW thru-hull similar in shape to the B260 but has a huge beam, perfect for an offshore fisherman. Some will say the beam is so wide that it will show you fish that are too far away but that is ka-ka. The bean generates from your boat so any fish you see will be exactly the same distance away from your boat as they would be with any other ducer, the wide beam just shows you more. Unless there is something I don't know about fish only eating what is directly above them then this is the ducer to get. I would be happy to answer any more Q's you might have.
The only problem I had with shoot though was it needs to be placed in the right spot. If theres air or foam in the spot it won't read well. Also try calling the boat builder sometimes they make a spot for them, it is just fiberglass without air pockets (you hope). The other thing is I think they also make 2kw. Make sure you can get access to it some times they need to be checked. They are filled with mineral oil and glued or fiberglass to the hull. (that can leak if banged around sometimes) and it won't work without the oil.
Josh one man in SE NC Bill Devito 910-686-3986 pm me and i'll give you his cell he is the furuno man about 8 miles from where you are going. He does the best installs and your shit will be right when he is done.
