Wow what a change of events
I remember well when Jt was at odds
with the long rangers they just dont dig private
    captains. As we speak
JT is giving Frank Lopreste (Royal Polaris owner) a ride to clarion island
    to mop up his boat.
Kong Island the land of Giants.

Im sure the pics of this trip will be insane

Clarion is part of the Revi's. it is the farthest island @ 480 miles from Cabo, but it is the most often fished. The only place out there that is farther is the Hurricane Bank and they usually only fish that on the way down.

I've been studying up on the islands for the June trip...

You're actually both right, it depends where you leave from. Clarion is ~600nm offshore where Socorro/San Benedicto is ~400nm. However, if you leave from Cabo, it's like a big triangle and it's about ~200nm to either (it's a bit more to Clarion more like 220, 180, etc.) with about 200nm between Clarion and Socorro.

Of course, if you head to one chain and guess wrong, you have 200 miles run between the islands. The boat JT is on can do this overnight (18 knot cruise).

    FYI

When you leave from Cabo the first place to take a look is usually Benedicto and then Roca Partida is a short run. Then the decision is Clarion or Socorro, both are a pretty good run usually about a day. Most boats out there will only run at hull speed (11knots) to conserve fuel. It's a pretty magical place and I would highly recomend it as a destination if you get the chance.

Just read on another board, no details, that Frank landed his personal best 304lb tuna. Assuming he is with JT? Now that is cool, the student becomes the master....?

Frank is, and will always be, the ultimate master and commander. To have him at our inquisitive disposal during the ride down to Clarion will be one of the best memories i have of all of my days offshore. Frank is the consummate gentlemen and veritable salt, it was an unquestionable honor to share a trip out to those storied islands with him.

Like i've said before, the world works in mysterious ways, and above all else i am incredibly stoked to just be a part of it.

Frank was on the Royal Polaris his own boat, it was his first time actually just a fisherman on board he is one of the owners, skippers. I agree with JT I have been priveledged enough to pick Frank's brain a couple times and a bible fisherman, captain he definetly is!!!PEACE
